No Phone for a Year Contest

Ok, so, I entered a contest. No, not a writing contest. I saw on the news Vitamin Water is having a contest to see if you can be without your smartphone for 1 year. I thought, HMMM. I think I can do that. So I wrote a tweet and sent a few pics and we’ll wait and see if they pick me to participate.

I believe I can conquer this contest if they pick me. I would be able to concentrate on my writing more and get my books done faster as well as get back in touch with life and how important it is.

I think technology is wonderful, but it can also make things, things that used to be so simple, be complicated. Unnecessarily in my opinion. Just because we have all this knowledge of technology doesn’t mean we should use it to make life harder. For example, going to the store and purchasing something just to stand there answering a bunch of questions before you pay, I just want to pay and leave, or receiving emails asking you to confirm your appointment instead of just making it a reminder. If you don’t “confirm” you lose your time. And let’s not forget those ‘automated calls’ we all love so much. Silly

Don’t get me wrong, I love the simplification of things technology has brought to our lives, I just don’t think it should be made hard, not everyone is tech-savvy. Less is more.

Thinking back to the ’70’s, how simple somethings were. Sometimes, I would like to go back to the ’70’s and add some 2018 simple techy things to that era. Would be great.

So, let’s put down our phones for a while and get back to using our brains again like we used to. That used to be fun too!

It’s been over two years since i have put down my cell phone!
Not easy, because there are times where i really needed to contact
home. Take a look at the public next time you are out walking, they
always seem to have there head down looking at there cellphone.
Sometimes the when you are in your car, your passengers
may not have a conversation with you, because of that device.
On the whole, it is a Great invention, but as long as you use it in moderation.
That’s Harry’s two cents, for what ever that is worth!
